First Attempt At Ida

After a brief hiatus from our regular Saturday rides, Odessa and I embarked on a new climbing adventure. We departed at 7:00am to attempt a ride personally recommended by Levi Leipheimer. The headwinds were strong as we headed up over the 8 miles of Chalk Hill Road. The next road grade on Highway 128 was consistent and difficult as we made our way to Ida Clayton Road (Levi's favorite climb). We began climbing up the first two miles of this steep country road (similar to Cavedale) and my chain misaligned; forcing us to abort the mission. However, all was not lost, as we continued on our favorite vineyard tour, stopping at the Jimtown Store for refreshments. With my bike locked in "the big gear", we made our way into Healdsburg stopping, once again, for more refreshments at the Oakville Grocery (their ANZAC cookies are to-die-for). We headed back in to Santa Rosa to get my chain fixed and still managed to cycle 64.5 miles today with over 1,500 feet of climbing.
