Sebastopol/Oakmont Homecoming Ride

After a ten week recess from cycling (due to a broken pelvis/hip), Leslie, Erin, Andy, and I met at 8:00 am for a ride out to Sebastopol. We carefully navigated the streets until we hit the Joe Rodota Trail. My goal this morning was to grab a pecan roll, try out the new Shimano 105 components on my bike, and test the titanium plates surgically implanted into my hip and pelvis. The morning cool breeze was perfect as we made our way along the trail and into Sebastopol. We arrived at Coffee Katz, which was packed, and ordered our drinks and sweets- yummy! It was so nice spending time visiting with Erin, who was here from Texas. Once we finished our goodies and gossip, we headed back towards Santa Rosa via the Joe Rodota Trail, this time riding through the new Prince Memorial Greenway extension, which delivers you right into downtown Santa Rosa. We continued on our ride, dropping off Andy and picking up Odessa, for a trek out to Annadel, Spring Lake, and Oakmont. The weather started to warm up as we passed the Oakmont Golf Club, stopping a few times to rest my sore pelvis/hip, and finally looped through Oakmont. We ventured back via Montgomery Drive and arrived home in time to enjoy our respective Fathers’ Day affairs. It was a beautiful day to jump back in the saddle and we cycled 40.5 miles. Wahoo!
